the creative process
This is a little info on the process of making a walking stick. I am asked many times how long it takes to create one. It all depends on the stick and the feeling I get from it. Mssticks was created by the mystical powers each stick seems to share with me. I feel an inner spirit that guides me thru the creative process from beginning to end. I wander in the woods or areas that are being cleared for development to clear my mind, and look for sticks laying on the ground. I try very hard not to cut anything down, this is my way of saying thanks to the earth as she offers me free inventory as I give the sticks a new way of life. Sometimes I even take my pups! Can you see 4 faces in this photo?
CLOVE SAGE DEB HITTER (bmr) The Cutest Dogs in the World spirit tree now the fun starts. I begin scraping the bark from them. some I sand and others I let dry if necessary. I test them for strength by banging them hard against rocks or other trees. I have heard this can actually be good for a tree to help stimulate growth.
Once that is done, I sit, relax, and come up with what seems to be a piece of functional art. I draw free hand or sometimes use graphics. Custom sticks are my favorites. it is difficult but challenging to be as accurate as possible while wood burning. Once that stage is complete, I polyurethane the entire stick about 8 to 10 times, sanding in between coats to keep it smooth.
Leather is attached to the hand grip and a rubber tip on the bottom to keep your stick protected.
So now your ready to get out and go as soon as it arrives! Order yours today. Think of your favorite things & make a list. Send it to me e mail and I will try my best to create it for you. Since these are so personal I finalize the rest of the details when your order is placed.
